Dodson & Horrell 0.85m and 0.95m National Amateur Second Rounds at Gracelands Equestrian Centre

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at Gracelands Equestrian Centre in Droitwich, Worcestershire saw the final qualification seekers out in force to compete across the 0.85m and 0.95m Second Rounds.
With the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th–20th November, looming ever closer, picking up one of the twelve qualification places on offer in each class was at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
Dodson & Horrell 0.85m National Amateur Second Round
The twenty-seven strong starting line-up was whittled down to fourteen highly competitive riders for the jump off and it was Isobelle Bradley from Shrewsbury, Shropshire who stepped up the pace to cross the finish line in first place. Riding her own 18 year-old bay mare Renaissance III, Isobelle used her final draw to full effect as she kicked on to secure a double clear in a scorching 27.27 seconds.
Scooping up second place was Natalie Cull from Malvern, Worcestershire on board her own 14 year-old bay mare, Vienne VIII. This partnership also broke the 30 second barrier to post a double clear in 28.36 seconds.
Taking third place was Tracey Harvey who travelled from Pershore, Worcestershire with her 7 year-old bay gelding, Friday Fox Barritz. This pair produced a double clear in 31.83 seconds.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round
The final jump off of sixteen eager horses and riders’ came right down to the wire as penultimate rider Julia Helm from Shrewley, Warwickshire produced an astonishingly fast double clear to cross the finish line on board her 17 year-old bay mare Helms Tolu in 28.59 seconds. With the final rider withdrawing, Julia moved straight into first place.
Isobelle Bradley carried over her good form from the 0.85m National Amateur Second Round to ride Charles Duncan’s 18 year-old chestnut gelding, Romero S, into second place with a double clear in 29.10 seconds.
Also showing her consistency from the earlier 0.85m National Amateur Second Round was Natalie Cull from Malvern, Worcestershire who went into third place on board her 14 year-old bay mare, Vienne VIII. This pair posted a double clear in 29.89 seconds.
