Chris Smith tops the Prestige Italia Big Star 6-year-old at Northcote Stud

Chris Smith claimed victory with Regnum Van Den Tinnenpot in the Prestige Italia Big Star 6-year-old at Northcote Stud.
Forty 6-year-olds came forward over an inviting course starting at 1.20m with eight providing initial clear rounds. However, a clear in the second round proved to be elusive.
Chris and the Corydon Van T&L x Flipper D’Elle gelding made just one error over the shortened and raised track in round two to return on four faults and claimed the win when no-one else matched their round.
Chris also picked up equal second on five faults with Roxy Van T Heike (Lavallino Ter Klomp x Gold Fever Van T Heike), sharing the runner-up spot with Hannah Bate’s Marshmallow II (Eldorado Van DE Zeshoek x Zento).
Sadly, this meant no-one from this leg of the series goes forward to the prestigious Prestige Italia Big Star 6-year-old Final at the British Showjumping National Championships at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, in August, as only treble clears qualify. However, there are still two qualifiers to go at Wellington, Hook, Hampshire, on 17 June and at Arena UK’s Second Round Show in Grantham, Lincolnshire, on 12 – 16 July.
