Friday 15 July 2016

The British team competing under Team Cavalor branding finished fourth in the CSIO5* Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany last night.
A sterling performance by Peeblesshire rider Scott Brash with Hello Guv’nor, an 11 year-old bay gelding owned by Lady Pauline Kirkham and Lady Pauline Harris saw them post a double clear, one of just nine achieved throughout the course of the evening.
A clear from Nottinghamshire’s Michael Whitaker in the first round with his wife Melissa’s 14 year-old chestnut gelding Viking V also played a pivotal role in the team’s placings. Their second round saw an unfortunate 4 penalties picked up when a pole fell and they also added a single time penalty to their score.
Guy Williams who is based in Seine Maritime, France delivered a foot perfect second round on his own and Charlotte Baines’ 16 year-old chestnut gelding Titus II to play their part in the teams solid performance. Their first round had seen them accrue 8 penalties.
Nigel Coupe from Preston, Lancashire with Golvers Hill, a 13 year-old bay gelding owned by Susan Simmons picked up 4 penalties in the first round and 9 in the second in this, their first CSIO5* team competition.
It was a victory for home nation Germany with their 0 penalty finish whilst the USA and France shared 2nd position on 4 penalties, 5 penalties ahead of Great Britain who finished on 9.
