British Showjumping statement: competition during period of mourning

All at British Showjumping join the nation during this period of mourning for the longest ever serving British Monarch and British Showjumping patron, Queen Elizabeth II.

This afternoon, the Queen's coffin will travel by procession to St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, accompanied by His Majesty King Charles III and members of the Royal Family.

Tomorrow, Princess Anne will accompany her mother's coffin, by flight, to London. From there it will travel to Buckingham Palace, and be witnessed by King Charles and Queen Consort, Camilla.

From Wednesday, The Queen will lie in state in Westminster Hall until 6:30am BST on the day of her funeral, Monday 19 September at 11am.

Monday 19th September has been declared a bank holiday by King Charles III and follows a national minute’s silence at 8pm on Sunday 18 September.

We appreciate that many of our show organisers have already faced a very challenging number of years but further to the news that Monday will be a public holiday across the UK, all competitions scheduled for Monday 19th have been cancelled or rescheduled as we show our respects to the Queen. Training events will also be postponed on this day, and the British Showjumping office will be closed.

We hope that our members understand the significance of this decision for the period of the funeral and will join in reflecting on the life of our long-standing Patron.
