British Showjumping Board Directors Appointed

 

British Showjumping is delighted to announce that the four Non-Executive Board Director positions which arose as part of the term rotation have now been appointed.

The four voluntary positions have all been appointed for a three year term commencing from the 1st April 2022 and are as follows:

Charles Britton, Chair of the Non-Executive Board, British Showjumping
Charles has been reappointed in his role as Chair having been appointed in 2019 for an initial term and applying to stand again for a second term this year.

Bringing a wealth of experience within the sport and from his previous term on the Board, Charles is passionate about the sport and driving it forward whilst ensuring that it is inclusive for all from the grassroots rider through to those competing at the highest international levels.

Alongside his own business, Charles Britton Equestrian Construction, which designs and builds equestrian facilities he is also the proprietor and show organiser of SouthView Equestrian Centre.

James Broome, Showjumping Specific, British Showjumping Non-Executive Director
Managing one of the busiest equestrian facilities within the UK for the past two decades James brings tremendous knowledge and understanding of the sport as a whole in addition to the requirements of those participating in it. 

James has been reappointed to the role for the second consecutive three year term having initially been appointed in 2019 when the position became available.  James has also sat as an elected Director and Vice Chair on the board of British Carriage Driving, as well as having served in a voluntary capacity on a number of BEF groups including the BEF Facilities Steering Group.

Bruce Alister Watterson, Finance, British Showjumping Non-Executive Board Director
An FCA qualified accountant Bruce has been appointed the Finance specific position that was available on the Non-Executive Board.

Client Director and Chief Operations Officer for the Dixcart Trust Corporation Limited office in Guernsey, Bruce looks after a diverse portfolio of commercial, corporate and private high net worth clients.   Bruce has an extensive understanding of off-shore fund management across a full spectrum of asset investment portfolios spanning both personal and business investments.

Bruce has previously served on the Round Table National Finance Committee and has an interest in sailing and power boating where he is a regular crew member.  He also holds RYA day skipper and power boat certificates.

David Sheerin, Showjumping Specific, British Showjumping Non-Executive Board Director
General Manager at Wellington Riding, David has designed and upgraded the competition centre to world class level.  He has developed revenue expansion strategies and has delivered business strategy and systems to improve quality and efficiency of operations.

Director for Wellington International Horse Trials CCI 3* he is also the show organizer for the CSI2* and CDI3* shows that take place at Wellington Riding.

Holding the post as Chief Instructor at Wellington Riding before taking the role of General Manager in 2014, David brings a depth of knowledge that spans the delivery of training programmes through the understanding of stakeholder needs within the sport. 

David brings with him leadership and team building skills along with in depth management of coaching and mentoring, operations and change management, business planning and corporate governance along with experience of working alongside all three Olympic national governing bodies
