Amy Inglis wins Young Rider European Championship Individual Bronze in Slovakia

It was another brilliant day for Great Britain when 20 year-old Amy Inglis won Individual Bronze in the Young Rider Final with Wishes, a 9 year-old homebred and home produced chestnut mare.

Riding under the sponsor banner of Team NAF, who sponsor all of British Showjumping’s teams competing on horses, Amy delivered one of just three double clears achieved in the final to secure her place on the podium for the second time this week. Carrying 9.81 penalties forward from her previous three rounds, she came into the Individual Final in 9th place.

The course was both a tough and technical one set by course designer Frank Rothenberger resulting in many of the combinations that had come into the Final in a strong position start to fall by the wayside.

The medals however, were decided without the need for a jump-off when Bryan Balsiger (SUI) with Clouzot de Lassus delivered one of the double clears to finish on 7.48 penalties to claim the Gold medal spot. Justine Tebbel (GER) with Light Star had looked set to take pole position having come forward with just 3.64 penalties slid down into Silver position when she picked up a further 4 penalties on the final round to finish on 7.64 penalties.

For Great Britain, Amy’s medal made it the fifth one from the Children, Junior and Young Rider Championships in Samorin, Slovakia with the Junior medals still to be decided. Their achievements have been absolutely incredible highlighting the incredible depth of talent Great Britain has across their entire youth structure.

Amy's medal today has also earned her a place at this year's Horse of the Year Show. Due to this year's British Showjumping National Championships running concurrently with the Young Rider Europeans, a Horse of the Year Show wildcard was offered to the highest placed individual medallist, aged between 18 - 21 years competing as a Young Rider.
