Alan Thomas Wins KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Bridgend Show

Alan Thomas delivered a dominant display to win the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round at Bridgend Show.
Alan, from Aberdare in Mid Glamorgan, was among five riders who recorded three clear rounds to secure a place at next month's British Showjumping National Championships in Warwickshire, but his jump-off performance proved a class apart.
Riding his own 5 year-old bay gelding All Byself, Thomas' time of 39.78 seconds was almost five seconds quicker than runner-up Carl Freeman, who made the long journey from Rugeley in Staffordshire worthwhile by claiming a qualification spot.
Carl clocked a time of 44.40 seconds aboard the Claire Commins-owned 6 year-old mare Eriggy, while third place went to Haverfordwest rider Sarah Hughes, with her own 5 year-old bay mare Oneida Maggie May. They delivered their treble clear in 47.24 seconds.
Five combinations from this second round go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
