Airowear Win Innovation Award with New Body Protector – The Hickstead

Charles Owen is pleased to announce that its specialist body protector brand and British Showjumping Business Partner, Airowear, has won an award for innovation with the new Hickstead body protector. Described by the judges as “A fantastic design that is virtually invisible over a show jacket, the Hickstead body protector moulds to the body for a comfortable and very safe fit."

Designed with the needs of showjumpers in mind yet conforming to the highest level of protection (EN13158:2009 and BETA 2009 Level 3), its discreet tailoring ensures the Hickstead is inconspicuous when worn over a black show jacket, offering discreet protection without compromising on performance or style.

The Hickstead incorporates Airowear’s most technologically enhanced materials to provide lightweight and flexible protection which moulds along the contours of the body. The addition of airflow lining, mesh darts and perforated impact absorbing foams on the front and back, encourage ventilation to improve comfort for the rider.

Featuring advanced chest and waist adjustments, with scientific sizing and a gender-specific fit, this innovative design is set to encourage showjumpers to wear body protectors whilst competing in the show ring.

Commenting on the award, Charles Owen Managing Director, Roy Burek says “Winning an innovation award for the Hickstead body protector is very significant for us, as this product was designed with the needs of showjumpers in mind. Not only have we earned recognition for the new concept and advanced technology, it firmly demonstrates the drive and commitment behind the Airowear brand under Charles Owen leadership."

The Hickstead is immediately available in stores.
