Great Britain’s Team Audevard finish sixth in the CSIO3* Longines EEF series Cup Stutteri Ask 2026 with a team of promising young horses

Great Britain’s Team Audevard finished sixth in the CSIO3* Longines EEF series Cup Stutteri Ask 2026 held in Martofte, Denmark.

A 12-fence, 15-effort 1.50m course set by course-designer Gerard Lachat (SUI) asked plenty of technical questions demanding scope and rideability.

“Luck wasn’t on our side, but we had a team of young horses who produced good, solid rounds and it was great experience for them,” said Chef d Equipe Nicola McLeish.

Olli Fletcher and the 10-year-old Cassanova One BVL Z (Codex One x Air Jordan) jumped a beautiful round as first out for Britain but just tapped the top pole of the final fence for four faults.  Joe Trunkfield also returned four with the nine-year-old Corvette VH Reukenis Z (Cicero Z Van Paemel x Corland) stretching but just catching the tape with a heel on the open water.

Chloe Winchester pulled a clear round out of the bag with the talented eight-year-old Chancellor Z (Cicero Z Van Paemel x Casir Ask) and the pressure fell to anchor Holly Smith’s shoulders with another eight-year-old, Nike Van Het Singraven (Andiamo Semilly x Haarlem).  But the vertical going into the combination fell to also put them on four.

Team Audevard finished on eight at the halfway stage to sit in sixth place.  The host country Denmark led the way on zero with Belgium close behind on one fault and Sweden and Norway one fence behind on four faults each.

Olli and Elizabeth Winter’s Cassanova One BVL Z were caught by the later top skinny plank to again come home on four.  Joe upped his game with John Steels and Srikumar Balasubramaniyam’s Corvette VH Reukenis Z to return a much-needed clear, but Chloe and Emma McIntosh and Justin Tuff’s Chancellor Z were caught out by the final element of the combination and the skinny plank to be the discard score this time.  Holly with Joanne Broadway, Liz Astall and TJ Hall Ltd’s Nike Van Het Singraven jumped a super round but were caught in the latter stages when the back rail of the penultimate oxer fell to cross the finish line on four faults.

Team Audevard remained in sixth place on a 16-fault total.  Denmark added only one fault to their zero score to remain at the top with Sweden remaining on their four faults from round one to go up the order into second.  Belgium added eight faults in round two for a nine-fault total to take third.

“This team of young horses look very promising going forward for the future,” said Chef d Equipe Nicola.

Great Britain’s Team Audevard take seventh place in the Al Shira’aa CSIO3* of Lisbon

Great Britain’s Team Audevard finished seventh in the Al Shira’aa CSIO3* Lisbon in Portugal, with a mix of young, inexperienced riders and horses in vast Sociedade Hipica Portugesa arena of beautiful bright green turf.

They led the way on a zero score at the halfway stage giving a good account of themselves, but unlucky rounds in latter half dropped the team down the order.

“It’s all about development of horses and riders, new combinations and new riders.  We’re creating a depth and pool of horses and riders for British teams.  I’m pleased with them – they’ll benefit from the experience and learn for the future,” said Chef d Equipe Matt Lanni.

Ten teams faced a 1.50m track designed by respected Course-designer Bernardo Costa Cobral (POR) with two teams touting a zero score at the halfway stage; Great Britain’s Team Audevard standing at the top of the leaderboard with Switzerland and four teams bunched behind on four faults.  It was tight at the top.

Team Audevard pathfinder Max Routledge guided Chen Zhao’s nine-year-old Me The Rebel R.T. (Cornet Obolensky x Baloubet Du Rouet) gave Great Britain an initial boost of confidence with a super clear and was followed suit by Amelie Gachoud on HMF Equestrian’s 15-year-old Lancaster (Fantomas De Muze x Crown Z) and anchor Tim Gredley aboard Unex Competition Yard Ltd’s 10-year-old Vuitton of Picolbello Z (Vagabond De La Pomme x Contact Van De Heffinck).  Leo Lamb and Mark Bellinger’s 10-year-old Las Palmas VG (Don Diego x Sam R), the ride he took over from the late Chris Moyce, made one slight error at the first element of the penultimate combination to come home on four.

Max looked set to give Team Audevard a double clear but the first and last elements of the combination caught Me The Rebel R.T second time out and they finished on eight.  Leo came out fighting on Las Palmas VG to leave every fence intact but picked up one frustrating time fault.

Amelie fell foul of the double when the back rail of the second element fell and were caught out by the final fence, this time tapping out the front rail for eight faults.  Tim lent his experience to the team in the anchor position but the top rail of the vertical going into the double hit the floor, putting Team Audevard on a team total of 13 and seventh place.

A jump-off situation between Spain and South Africa – both on a total of four faults – witnessed Spain taking victory with a fast clear round, putting South Africa in second on four faults. France finished third on a total of eight, pushing Italy into fourth on time.

Matt was pleased overall and assessed: “Both Max and Leo’s horses were making their debut, and Amelie was jumping on her first senior team, she jumped a great first round and her horse was perhaps a little tired in round two.  Tim almost achieved a double clear and was so unlucky, but they all performed well with great team spirit.  It was all about small margins which can be put down to inexperience and dropped us down the order, and giving riders and new combinations the opportunity to gain Nations Cup experience at this level.  I’m not disappointed, they were taking it all in and the experience will pay in the future.”
