Caroline Webley and Endyana EH Z Shine in the Bank Holiday Sunshine at Weston Lawns

The bank holiday sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for the NAF Five Star Summer Silver League Qualifier at Weston Lawns Equestrian at the weekend, where 42 rider combinations came forward to take on Stephen William’s challenging course. 

Competition was fierce throughout the class, with riders all aiming to secure qualification for the next stage of the prestigious series. After two demanding opening rounds, 21 combinations successfully jumped clear to book their place in an exciting jump-off. 

Leading the way was Caroline Webley riding Alan Hudson’s Endyana EH Z, who produced a superb clear round against the clock to secure victory in an impressive time of 39.70 seconds. 

Second place went to Michaela Russell aboard Mr Overlord, who also delivered a faultless jump-off round in 42.53 seconds, while Alice Ellison and Miss Montreal K completed the top three after another stylish clear in a time of 42.95 seconds. 

“I’ve had the mare, who is owned by Alan Hudson since 2023, David Coombs rode her before and jumped some big tracks with her. Alan also owns another horse I have, Diploma B. I get on really well with Endyana, the quicker she goes the better she jumps. I was first to go in the jump off, she’s quite a quick mare so if she jumps clear, she is quite hard to beat. She’s always competitive, jumping recently at North Somerset Show where she won the 1.15m and the 1.20m there. 

“I had three horses in the class and three in the jump off, so I was rushing about and swoping round a bit. It was a nice course, it rode well and the jump off was following, which suited us because she’s quick. I did do an extra turn in which no one else did, back inside to a water tray which gave us the edge. 

“I like to support the county shows so Endyana will be doing those, Stafford this week then Three Counties, Hanbury and then other local shows. She is very competitive around 1.25m, so those shows suit her.  She has jumped bigger with David but is better down the distances at that height.” Said Caroline. 

Attention will now turn towards the semi-finals taking place later this summer, as qualified riders continue their journey towards the prestigious Final at the Horse of the Year Show in October.
