 Resumption of Sport Spring 2021

Following the recent Government announcements in the UK with regards to the roadmap out of national lockdown, British Showjumping have been working with Show Organisers and other key stakeholder groups to draw up plans for the resumption of British Showjumping activity which we are pleased to share below.  As follows:

Resumption plan for England

  • 29th March – return of single day competitions in line with British Showjumping COVID protocols. During this time in accordance with Government advice that travel should be minimised only Category one, Category two, Club, Just for Schools and Training shows are permitted. Academy training sessions in line with COVID protocols are also permitted from this date.
  • The following are not permitted at this stage:
    - Overnight stays
    - Category three shows
    - National Qualifiers or Pony Gold League classes.
  • 12th April - multi-day shows with overnight stays/stabling will be permitted along with Category three shows, National qualifiers and pony gold league classes in line with British Showjumping COVID protocols.

Resumption plan for Scotland

  • 26th April - return of British Showjumping competition in line with COVID protocols. Further information will be provided in keeping with Scottish Government relaxations in the coming weeks.

Resumption plan for Wales

  • We await details of the easing of lockdown restrictions due to be issued on 12th March.  British Showjumping along with other non-contact outdoor sports are lobbying Sport Wales and the Welsh Sports Association for a clear restart plan.

Unfortunately as we move into the summer qualification period all other shows scheduled to run prior to 29th March and associated qualifiers are cancelled and will not be rescheduled. There have been amendments to the Summer qualifier dates and given the evolving situation it is likely that there will be further changes. With this in mind please continue to check here for the up-to-date qualifier list.

British Showjumping are working closely with International Show Organisers to accommodate the moving of dates in order to maximise the opportunities to run in accordance with the Government relaxations. We are also liaising with County Shows and those planning to run International/Area Trials to provide a suitable number of classes at Gold League level given the challenges arising from Brexit and the EHV 1 outbreak in Europe.

Please be aware the above planned dates may be subject to change at short notice should there be a change to the Government restrictions recently announced.

We are all looking forward to the resumption of British Showjumping activity however we would also like to remind everyone that adherence to COVID protocols at any British Showjumping activity is imperative if we are to ensure the sport functions in a safe environment for all attending.

Please remember your horses have also had a long period of lockdown so be mindful of this when planning your return to competition.

Stay safe, stay local and enjoy your horses.
