Wednesday at the British Showjumping National Championships

Commencing the day in UNIBED Championship Arena 2, was the Pony Silver League 128cm Final. Taylie-Rae Owen, riding Hardwickview Yen Man took home first place. Taylie-Rae commented: “I rode in the warmup class this morning; I was a bit nervous going into the Championship but still felt confident. I’ve got plans for a few more shows this season.” Taylie-Rae would like to thank her trainer, Jade Gerkin, for all the help and support.

Bella Wild and Shaman Sundance were crowned the winners in the Pony Silver League 138cm & Under Final with a fantastic time of 27.55. “My pony is a 16-year-old gelding, I’ve only had him since the start of the year, he’s lovely in the stables, a bit cheeky but cute. Going into the ring I felt like I had to set a standard as I was the first to go! My season has been great so far, we’ve qualified for Horse of the Year Show which we can’t wait for” Bella comments.

Over in the Bucas Championship Arena 1, Hampshire based India Thornhill riding 11-year-old Garrangrena Gracie Fields, also known as 'Gracey' excelled to win the Pony British Novice Championship Final with a fast time of 32.49 seconds. “She’s such a fantastic pony, she’s so quick and turns so well. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the arena, you never know what’s going to happen! This winter I’m hoping to step up to competing in the Foxhunter. I’ve had her about a year, she was an eventer. We decided to start showjumping and she is so careful and so good at it” India explains.

Hereford based Poppy Dorise and 22-year-old Ffynnonbach Sandman took the Stepping Stones 128cm Championship Final against 76 other competitors achieving an impressive time of 31.21 seconds at the finish line. “I got 'Jacko' last year, in the past we have won a lot of 80cm/90cm classes, but I still felt quit quite confident going into the arena. Last weekend I won at the Welsh Home Pony Show."

A phenomenal win for 10-year-old Jennifer Mcleish and the 21-year-old Drumaclan Flight, known as Heidy at home, in the Stepping Stones 138cm Championship Final with a time of 36.40; this being her third National Title in total! “I didn’t know if it was enough, but all the work definitely paid off! It’s probably going to be my last time jumping this class” says Jennifer.

The final class of the day in Bucas Championship Arena 1 was the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters with a fantastic win for Edinburgh based Aimee Paxton riding the 11-year-old Las Vegas VI. “I felt a bit nervous going into the arena. I knew that he had to be fast and turn tight because we had good ponies following us. He was amazing, he couldn’t really have done anything else for me. He helped me out and jumped awesome; my season has been unbelievable; I don’t know how I’m going to top it next year” Aimme said.
