LUMMEN FEI FURUSIYYA 5* NATIONS CUP TEAM & DRAW ANNOUNCED

Tomorrow, 2nd May, will see the first qualifier of the Europe Division 1  Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup series of competitions take place in Lummen, Belgium at 16:00hrs local time. The draw, which took place earlier today, will see the eight teams contesting the competition compete in the following order:

  1. Ireland
  2. Spain
  3. The Netherlands
  4. Belgium
  5. Sweden
  6. France
  7. Switzerland
  8. Great Britain

Five teams are eligible for Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup points at this initial leg of the series, and they are: France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium.

The team representing Great Britain will be:

William Funnell from Dorking with his homebred 13 year old brown stallion Billy Congo, owned by the Billy Stud and with whom he won Team Gold at the 2013 European Championships, Herning. 

Robert Whitaker from Sidcup, Kent with his parents (John & Clare) 11 year-old brown stallion Catwalk IV with whom he jumped a double clear at their inaugural 5* Nations Cup last summer in Gijon.

William Whitaker, who is also a rider within the World Class Development Programme, from Huddersfield, with Elisabeth Fredland’s 11 year old bay gelding Fandango with whom he also made his debut at 5* Nations Cup level in Gijon last summer with a foot-perfect double clear performance.

Guy Williams from Canterbury with Caroline Phillips’ 10 year-old bay gelding Zaire with whom he won the Land Rover Grand Prix in Bordeaux earlier in the year.

 The British Showjumping Teams are supported by Exchequer and National Lottery funding via UK Sport.

The World Class Development Programme underpins World Class Performance and, together with the Equine Pathway, they comprise the Equestrian World Class Programme, incorporating the three Olympic sports of dressage, eventing, showjumping and the Paralympic sport of para-equestrian dressage.  The Programme has been funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, through Exchequer and National Lottery funds, via UK Sport since 1998.
