Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm and 1.15m National Amateur Second Rounds at Allens Hill

Numerous Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds took place this weekend, two of which were hosted at Allens Hill in Pershore, Worcestershire. A 0.90cm second round and a 1.15m second round were held on Sunday 8th September 2013.
All of the starting competitors were hoping to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

Forty-three competitors came forward to contest this 0.90cm second round and the class proved to be well contested as twenty-four combinations made it through into the jump off. Twelve combinations then went on to achieve the desired double clear and in doing so, they then took the twelve direct qualifying places.
Kerys Evans (26) from Credenhill, Herefordshire took the win in this second round on her own 8 year-old appaloosa gelding, JC’s Mr Darcy. Kerys produced two immaculate rounds from her ride and she stopped the clock on 36.90 seconds in the jump off to seal victory.
Second place was taken by 20 year-old Petrina Stokes from Stourport-On-Severn, Worcestershire. Petrina rode her own Tara’s Frost, a 15 year-old grey gelding and she achieved a double clear in a good time of 37.05 seconds to finish in the top two.
Third place went to 25 year-old Jenna King from Walsall, West Midlands, who was on board the 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Luckey IV, owned by Anthony Wallbank. Jenna produced her double clear in 37.26 seconds.
A further nine riders went to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round.
Fifteen combinations started in this 1.15m second round and ten of these combinations went on to achieve their qualifying place for the Championship Final.
The top spot went to 45 year-old Nina Emery from Cannock, Staffordshire and she produced a double clear from her ride, her own 7 year-old bay mare, Galaxy III. This combination produced a superb time of 31.24 seconds to take victory.
In second was 24 year-old Abigail Brain from Broadway, Worcestershire. Abigail was competing on her own 8 year-old chestnut gelding, Javas High Noon. This combination finished with a double clear in 32.76 seconds.
In third was 26 year-old Sophie Broome from Portskett, Monmouthshire and she was on board Kanika, an 11 year-old dark bay mare owned by Elizabeth Edgar. Their double clear was delivered in 34.66 seconds, which was enough to secure them a top three finish.
Seven more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Championship Final.
