The Bristol & Somerset Committee hold an Area Show each year at the end of July at one of the local venues. We try & hold classes for all members, holding Juniors classes one day & Seniors classes the other. The classes at this show are usually kindly sponsored by members or local business, so we can try to offer ‘good’ prize money for ‘reasonable’ entry fees.

The 2019 Area Show, is being held at Chard Equestrian Centre on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th July, this will be a two-day show for Juniors & Seniors. There will be overnight stabling available, and a social event on the Saturday night.

We are always looking for Sponsors for classes at the Area Show, so if you are interested or know of anyone who might be, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always grateful of how ever much people can sponsors, as little as £30.00 can sponsor first place in a lower class with £450.00 sponsoring all prizes in a bigger class. All Sponsors are offered refreshments during the show & advertisement on the Rosettes, Schedule, Website & Social Media pages.

We hold an Annual General Meeting once a year, where members are invited to see the previous year’s accounts, see what the area has done & what the plans are for the upcoming year. We also take this opportunity to present our annual ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Area’ Award & The Annual Area Awards.

We invite all members to put their names forward to the Annual Area Awards.

  • Bristol & Somerset Pony Novice
  • Bristol & Somerset Pony Open
  • Bristol & Somerset Senior Novice
  • Bristol & Somerset Senior Open
  • Bristol & Somerser Gold League Rider
  • Chard Equestrian Bristol & Somerset Academy Pony Rider
  • Chard Equestrian Bristol & Somerset Academy Young Rider

We then look at your horse/ponies records & allocate points based on placings achieved during the year, for more information please visit the Annual Points page on our website.

The Jack Shearn & Jennie Bailey Trophy is also awarded on an annual basis to someone we believe has provided an outstanding contribution to the Bristol  & Somerset Area.

There is a National Area Team Competition that takes place each summer, Bristol & Somerset usually put forward two teams to compete in the qualifying rounds; each team consists of 4 Area members to compete over 4 different heights, members are invited to but their name forward for consideration for the qualifying rounds, we ask that members who put their names forward are happy to compete in the final at The British National Championship, should the team qualify. The teams will be selected by the committee based on current form.

The 2019 Qualifying rounds are at Wales & West on 09th June & Chard Equestrian on 15th June.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Good Luck in all your upcoming events, hope to see you soon
