Youth European Championships Thursday round up

Round 2 (Young Rider, Junior) and Team Final (Junior)

At the FEI Jumping European Championship for Young Riders, Juniors and Children 2022 in Oliva Nova, Spain, the action continued on Wednesday afternoon (13 July) with the Junior teams jumping their second rounds. The Young Riders jumped their second round on Thursday morning (14 July) whilst the Juniors rounded out their team competition on Thursday afternoon where the first of the medals were decided.

 

Juniors

In the second round of the team competition on Wednesday, Britain’s Claudia Moore, Red Morgan and Lauren Carline all jumped clear, and Jennifer Billington finished with 4 faults. After the second round the British Team was sitting in 4th place on 14.48 faults.

In the team final on Thursday, Jennifer Billington jumped clear, with Red Morgan, Claudia Moore and Lauren Caroline finishing with 4 faults each. The team finished the Nations Cup in 4th place on 22.48 faults.

In the individual competition, Britain’s Junior team members rankings are as follows after round 3:

Red Morgan – 20th on 8.09 faults (Round 2: 0/73.12, Round 3: 4/77.09)

Jennifer Billington – 24th on 8.32 faults (Round 2: 4/75.01, Round 3: 0/77.65)

Claudia Moore – 31st on 10.07 faults (Round 2: 0/74.66, Round 3: 4/75.13)

Lauren Caroline – 37th on 10.85 faults (Round 2: 0/74.91, Round 3: 4/78.01)

Iwan Carpenter – 55th on 16.27 faults (Round 2: 0/75.01, Round 3: 8/79.49)

As the top 30 progress through to the Individual Final, Red Morgan and Jennifer Billington will jump again on Saturday (16 July) for the Individual medals.

 

Young Riders

With only 6 clears in the second round, three of which came from British riders, it was Thibeau Spits (BEL) who moved into the lead on 1.90 faults (0/82.54), followed by Grace Debney (GBR) on 3.34 faults (0/83.22). Henrike Ostermann (GER) jumped into third place on a score of 2.81 faults (0/79.91) with Oliver Fletcher moving up into fourth on 3.34 faults (0/83.58).

In the team competition, Great Britain moved up into first place on 6.84 faults, with Belgium in second on 14.08 faults and Germany in third on 16.17 faults ahead of the Team final on Friday (15 July).

Britain’s Young Rider team members rankings are as follows after round 2:

Grace Debney – 2nd on 2.75 faults (0/83.22)

Oliver Fletcher – 4th on 3.34 faults (0/83.58)

Lila Bremner – 13th on 7.50 faults (0/84.58)

Lily Attwood – 36th on 0.75 faults (12/84.31)

Elizabeth Baker - 70th on 9.38 faults (24/88.89)

The Team sits in 1st place on 6.84 faults after the second round.
