Young Talent Shines in the National U21 Championship Final
Saturday 15 August 2015
The qualifiers of the first and second preliminary rounds joined together today to battle it out for the National U21 Championship Final in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena. There was no shortage of young jumping talent this afternoon as the stars of the future took centre stage.
There were 21 young riders vying for the title and they wasted no time chasing the win. The first round saw some impressive riding as 12 combinations progressed to the jump off.
The tension mounted when the first of the riders took to the arena. The pressure caught up with the first 3 riders who all had a rail down. The first double clear round of the class was achieved by Sally Hopkinson and Cartouche II.
The rounds continued to improve and saw an abundance of clear rounds with times becoming tighter as the class progressed. The last round for the class was Amy Inglis and Amadeouse De Hurtebise jumped last and Amy knew the time she had to beat to win, she didn’t let the pressure get to her as she jumped a poised and steady round.
The impressive round saw Amy finish with a double clears and a time of 33.01 to cement the win for the young rider. Amy is no stranger to success in the arena and this win was a highlight for her.
Amy was thrilled with her win saying “he was amazing, he jumped so good bless him. I’ve never gone that fast on him before he’s quite new to me. He jumped even better in the jump off”.
Amy still has three more years competing in the U21 division and if her recent performances are anything to go by Amy is one to watch for the future.
