Two equal firsts in the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre

The final Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifiers took place over the weekend at Bury Farm Equestrian Centre in Slapton, Buckinghamshire.

The qualifiers saw the top three combinations from each day land a qualifying place for the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship.

Course designer Keith Bristow looked to have set a challenging 1.30m first round track on the first day of the Bury Farm Large Pony Premier Show. The final fence proved pivotal with nearly one-third of competitors falling victim. Four combinations progressed to the second round.

Elsi Jacques from Loughborough, Leicestershire was the first to post a double clear with Trevoulter Ladies Man, a 13 year-old stallion owned by Daniella Piecha. She was joined by last to go, Thomas Francis-Jones, from Brackley, Northamptonshire, and Kiltormer Hero, a 16 year-old gelding owned by Amanda Francis-Jones who also produced a second clear. Both competitors agreed to share the honours. Third place was awarded to Megan Li and Harry who were the fastest four faulters.

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier – Sunday 15th March 2020

It was a tale of two halves over the weekend as the course on the second day of Winter JA Classic Qualifiers caught nearly two-thirds of the field out at the beginning.

Course Designer Keith Bristow built another challenging track on the second day of jumping. Four competitors managed to negotiate their way round the 1.30m first round track with a clear but a tight time allowance left two competitors with time faults.

Tabitha Kyle from Wymeswold, Leicestershire produced the first clear with Claire Lockhead’s Gangnam Style II, an 11 year-old gelding whom Tabitha started competing in October last year. Megan Li from Bracknell, Berkshire, steered Alex Li’s 12 year-old gelding, Vigo VI, to a clear round. It was decided once again that first place would be shared between Tabitha and Megan. Tabitha also scooped third place with Nightgirl Van Het Sonnishof.

Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Qualifier Results:

1st Tabitha Kyle & Gangnam Style II – 0 – 56.25 seconds
1st Megan Li & Vigo VI – 0 – 52.51 seconds
