Tahnia Jordan-Jones wins the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Masters

All spectators in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena were left thoroughly entertained today after the phenomenal display of excellence in the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Masters class competition. As a Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualifier, the stakes were high and the combinations were challenged to rise to the occasion.

The course proved challenging as only nine of the thirty-two competitors managed a clear round and made it into the jump off. 16 year-old Lucy Carver from Malton, North Yorkshire was the first rider to go and partnering Claudia Harrison-Guess’ 10 year-old dark bay mare Cavaliers Royale Princess picked up four faults crossing the finish line in a time of 38.50 seconds setting the bar high and promising an exciting competition. All following times were close but it was the penultimate rider who rode to victory and earned the top spot. Thirteen year-old Tahnia Jordan Jones from Swindon, Wiltshire riding her mother Julie’s 11 year-old bay gelding Sulan Hollywood Knight stole the show with a spectacular clear round in 33.50 seconds.

Tahnia has a great attitude for her age, she isn’t afraid to take risks and her confidence shone through when we spoke to her after the class. Tahnia was comfortable before the jump off: “I thought I may as well just try for the win…so I just rode everything, got my strides off the corner and he (Sulan Hollywood Knight) is just awesome”.

Sulan Hollywood Knight (stable name Woody) and his rider have a really solid partnership and she clearly adores him. Tahnia’s mother, and owner of Woody, was extremely pleased with today’s result: “I’m really proud of her, really proud… she works really hard and I’m really proud of the results she’s had”.
