Stephen Lohoar Claims Victory in SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre

Stephen Lohoar from St. Andrews, Fife took on a solid field in the fourteen strong jump off and claimed victory in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre in Broxburn, West Lothian on Saturday.

Thirty-three combinations initially tackled the technical course and they were all vying for one of the two qualification places on offer for the Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex next summer. Fourteen talented combinations made it through to the extremely competitive jump off and a total of seven double clears were secured.

On board his own 8 year-old bay gelding, Idem Dito Vd Hemelse Breedte, Stephen kept his cool from a late draw in the jump off and produced an exemplary clear round to take the win by 0.16 of a second. The pair crossed through the finish line with a double clear in 40.04 seconds.

Scooping up the second qualification place on offer was Jordan Thompson from Larbert, Stirlingshire and he rode Ben Wentink’s 7 year-old dark bay stallion, Erdento. Jordan and Erdento proved their consistency when they produced a second clear round in 40.20 seconds.
