Scott Brash wins yet another Grand prix in Oliva Nova

Sunday 18 February 2018

Scott Brash, from Peebleshire, posted his third Grand Prix win in Oliva Nova, Spain at the Spring MET Tour this afternoon with Hello Mr President owned by Lady Kirkham and Lady Harris.

The 1.45m Grand Prix, with its total prize fund of €30,000,  saw Scott claim the title from a field in excess of seventy starters.  The jump-off, which had a total of nineteen come forward, certainly gave the riders some challenges forcing them to take as many risks as they dare whilst pushing the pace forward as hard as possible.

Julien Epaillard (FRA) had held an early lead with his time of 35.56 seconds on Instit de Jucaso, however Scott’s incredible performance, which saw him attack from the outset, quickly pushed him into second place with his time of 35.48 seconds.  These two placings remained unchallenged throughout the rest of the competition and it was last to go Bassem Mohammed (QAT) that got the closest to catching them when he and Argelith Squick jumped clear in 36.73 seconds to claim 3rd place.

Talking about Mr President after the class Scott commented “I am delighted. Although he won the first two weeks, he felt even better today.  He is naturally fast and he is easier to ride than he looks. He jumps fantastic and is extremely careful”.
