Scott Brash and Hello Mr President win second MET Grand Prix

Sunday 28 January 2018

It was a second Grand Prix win of the Oliva Nova Tour for Scott Brash this weekend when he took the Gold Tour CSI 2* 1.45m title in Spain.

Riding Hello Mr President, the 9 year-old bay gelding owned by Lady Kirkham and Lady Harris, he replicated their superb performance of last week to head the forty-two strong class in the final line up. Their double clear in a time of 43.22 seconds saw them secure more than a one second lead ahead of Nicolas Deseuzes for France with Quilane de Lezeaux who broke the finish line in 44.67 seconds.  Just 200th of a second behind Nicolas was his fellow rider Olivier Robert and Eros who took 3rd whilst home rider Laura Roquet Puignero took 4th with Sandi Puigroq.

It was just four double clears that were achieved in the competition which had seen eleven come forward for the jump off.   The jump off had  also seen British riders Emma Stoker with Bob Young’s mare Townhead Annie and Laura Renwick with her own and husband John’s home produced Bintang II included with them both finishing in 7th and 11th place respectively.
