Robert Whitaker and Catwalk finish close 2nd in Spain

Monday 29 February 2016

GB rider Robert Whitaker with Mandy Hall’s 13 year-old bay gelding Catwalk IV took 2nd place yesterday in the €40,000 FEI CSI3* Grand Prix at Vejer de la Frontera in Spain.

Delivering a superb double clear they stopped the clock in a time of 40.09 seconds, just a fraction of a second behind overall winner Gregory Wathelet of Belgium with Coree de Hus.  It was a hard fought jump off with less than two seconds separating the top three placings and it was Belgium rider Jos Verlooy with Caracas that finished in 3rd place behind Robert.

Robert and Catwalk made a  number of appearances on top level  Nations Cup teams last year  including Rome, where his first round clear played a pivotal role in the team finishing victorious in 1st place.

The Sunshine Tour  continues through to the 20th March with many of GB's riders competing out there getting a head start on the season ahead.  For more information on the Tour and full results please visit www.sunshinetour.net
