Phillip Miller takes the Winter Grand Prix title at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe

Phillip Miller from Harpenden, Hertfordshire took the win in Saturday’s Winter Grand Prix at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe in Bedfordshire. Phillip partnered the Caretino Glory sired 13 year-old mare, Sussex Caretino, owned by the Brendon Stud, to victory.

Six of the initial twenty-one starters produced a first round clear over course designer David Cole’s thirteen fence-track with four going on to produce double clears. Phillip and Sussex Caretino, a horse he has ridden for the Brendon Stud since 2014, utilised every shortcut to come home 1.52 seconds quicker than their closest challengers. The combination crossed the finish line in 33.75 seconds.

Adrian Speight made the long trip from Grimsby, South Humberside to take second place with Judith Whitham’s Millfield Baloney, a Balou Du Rouet Z sired 13 year-old gelding whom Adrian has been competing for three months. They crossed the finish line in 35.27 seconds.

Third place was taken by Dan Delsart who is based in Wollaston, Northamptonshire. Dan piloted Isabelle Casgrain’s Lord Quidam and finished 0.67 seconds behind Adrian in 35.94 seconds.
