Nominations Go Live For The Horse & Hound Outstanding Mare Award
Monday 11 November 2019

As we near the end of another successful season of equestrian sport with notable successes for British bred horses, what better way than to celebrate this by recognising the top mares that are producing our successful competition horses now and into the future?
Rubinsteena, a dressage broodmare matriarch was the winning recipient of the 2018 H&H Outstanding Mare Award. Owned by Sarah Oppenheimer, who was absolutely thrilled to receive this award, as this wonderful broodmare sadly died in 2018 at the age of 22, leaving behind her a wonderful dressage dynasty.
The nominations for the 2019 Horse & Hound Outstanding Mare Award are now open. The award is to be presented to the breeder or associate of the mare who, in the opinion of Horse & Hound’s editorial team, has made the greatest contribution to British bred success.
A nominated mare may have had an outstanding competition career herself or have bred a dynasty of progeny that have gone on to succeed in sport, or both. If you think you know of a mare that has made a valuable contribution to British breeding – we’d like to know about her
The award will be presented at the British Horse Foundation Awards Dinner, hosted and organised by the British Horse Foundation in London on 11th January 2020.
