Nick Fellows to step down as BEF CEO

Thursday 18 July 2019

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) is today announcing that its CEO, Nick Fellows, is to step down from the organisation.

BEF Chair, Mohamed Elsarky commented “On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Nick for the work he has undertaken since he joined the BEF, and I wish him well for the future”.

The BEF is pleased to announce that Iain Graham, CEO of British Showjumping, has agreed to act as Interim CEO, effective immediately.

The BEF Board was keen to make the transition as smooth as possible and to maintain continuity so approached Iain, who has years of experience working across the equestrian industry. He joined British Showjumping in 2009 as Head of Sport and Performance and also worked closely with the committees that preside over the sport from grassroots to championship level. He then took the role of CEO in May 2010. Before his time at British Showjumping he was Regional Director for Scotland and the North of England at British Eventing.

Mohamed Elsarky commented “Since the Independent Review in 2018, and during my time as Chair of the Board, we have established a strong collaborative culture across the Federation and its Member Bodies. Iain brings a wealth of experience as a leader with a proven track record in equestrian both within the UK and internationally. We thank British Showjumping for releasing Iain to support British equestrianism in this capacity”.

Iain Graham added “I am really excited about taking up this opportunity, working with the BEF and its member bodies as we head into the final qualifying period for Tokyo.”

Further information regarding the recruitment process to appoint a new CEO will be announced at a future date.
