Millie Allen claims the Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship Qualifier at Morris Equestrian Centre Ltd

The third and final Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship Qualifier took place on Friday evening during the Winter Classic Show at Morris Equestrian Centre Ltd,  Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire.

The qualifier saw the three highest placed under 25 riders, disregarding those already qualified, gain a qualifying ticket for the Voltaire Design Under 25 British Championship at The London International Horse Show which takes place between the 16th – 20th December 2021.

Twenty four year-old Millie Allen from Stockton-On-Tees, Cleveland claimed the prize for the highest placed under 25 with James Webb’s Erik II, a 12 year-old bay gelding. The pair produced a solid double clear, utilising every short cut on offer to cross the finish line in 29.40 seconds around the course designed by Ben Townley to take second place. Millie has already gained her place to the Championship and so the qualifying ticket was passed down the line.

Harry Wainwright from Lowdham, Nottingham piloted his own Pinheiro Beech, a 12 year old bay gelding into fifth place overall with a double clear in 30.46 seconds which gained him the first highest placed Under 25 rider.

Twenty three year-old Abbie Bevan from Flint, Clwyd placed sixth overall and took the second qualifying ticket for the Under 25’s with Colin Bevan’s Fabiola Fairy V, a 11 year-old grey mare. They stopped the clock on 31.62 seconds with a double clear.

The final qualifying ticket for the Voltaire Design Under 25’s went to Conor Mcmahon from Marlborough, Wiltshire with Graham Gillespie’s Calacas D Aubigny, a 9 year-old chestnut gelding. They produced a lovely double clear to cross the finish line in 32.61 seconds finishing in overall seventh place.
