Mark Turnbull from Dunfermline, Fife produced a fine performance yesterday to win the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at The Scottish National Equestrian Centre in Broxburn, West Lothian.
A sizeable field of thirty-five combinations embarked on their quest of securing one of the two sought after qualifying tickets on offer for the Championship which takes place at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in July and the jump off was to prove competitive with eight pairs achieving a double clear.
Mark eventually took a comfortable win yesterday on board Corina X, a 9 year-old chestnut mare owned by Mary Turnbull. The pair triumphed by more than a second after delivering their double clear in 35.88 seconds, booking their Championship place in the process.
Stephen Lohoar from St. Andrews, Fife secured second place with his own 8 year-old bay gelding Dandy Man MFS. Also jumping double clear, their time of 37.31 seconds ensured that they secured the second qualification spot.
