Louise Saywell takes third in the CSIO5* Grand Prix at Gijon

Tuesday 05 September 2017

Louise Saywell flew the flag for the Brits yesterday when she claimed a third place finish in the CSIO5* Grand Prix presented by Funeraria Gijonesa at Gijon in Spain,

Louise, from Retford, Nottinghamshire, took her podium place on board Sue Davies’ 15 year-old grey gelding, Tin Tin and the pair picked up over 23,000 EUR.

From 44 initial starters, only six combinations were able to post a first round clear over the technical course and the best twelve riders went forward to the second round where speed became the name of the game.

Louise and Tin Tin gave a faultless performance to deliver just one of five double clears produced throughout the entire competition. They came through the finish in a time of 57.93 seconds and this saw them take third behind the Spanish duos, Gerardo Menendez and Cassino DC in first and Laura Roquet and Sandi Puigroq in second.
