Laura Robinson Tops the Podium in Madrid’s CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix

Laura Robinson from Northallerton, North Yorkshire topped the podium yesterday in the CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix in Madrid, Spain and in doing so, she won the Suzuki Trophy and the €6,250.00 first prize.

On board her father Neal Robinson’s 12 year-old brown gelding Jonti, Laura took the top spot ahead of thirty-eight other competitors who were all aiming to claim the lion’s share of the prize pot.

Sunday’s course proved challenging with just five horses and riders making it through to the jump off and only three double clears were produced overall.

Laura and Jonti delivered the fastest of these double clears, crossing through the finish in 49.04 seconds. Their turn of pace ensured that they finished 0.54 of a second ahead of their nearest rivals.

Federico Fernandez Senderos from Mexico took second on Bolt with a double clear in 49.58 seconds. The third and final double clear came from home rider José Bono Rodríguez on Sligo Hard Times and they secured theirs in 52.28 seconds.
