Laura Renwick & Will Fletcher make GB's presence felt in Portugal

Monday 18 March 2019

It was the Union Flag that flew the highest yesterday in Vilamoura, Portugal when Laura Renwick and Will Fletcher took the top two places in the Atlantic Tour CSI 3* 1.50m Grand Prix.

From the field of more than thirty starters it was only five combinations that managed to jump clear across the 1.50m course and qualify for the jump off.  Joining Laura and Will was  Faye Schoch (SUI), Andrew Americo de Miranda (BRA) and Antonio Matos Almeida (POR).

It was Laura, riding the 11 year-old Dublin V owned by Arabella Prior, however who took the title delivering a blazingly fast second round clear in a time of 40.07 seconds to take the lead.   Their time saw them hold more than a two second lead ahead of the rest of the field with Will Fletcher and his 14 year-old Persimmon coming the closest with their clear in a time of 42.80 seconds to take 2nd place.

With GB securing the top two places, it was Switzerland who took 3rd in the form of Faye Schoch and Quincy W who were the only other combination to post a double clear.
