Last but not Least – Ruby’s Victory in the National 1.15m Members Cup Final

The final class of the competition drew to a close today in the Andrews Bowen Indoor Arena. The closing class was the National 1.15m Members Cup Final which saw Ruby Pointer and Dutsy Van Het Hek walk away with the win.

With 13 riders achieving clear first rounds, the jump off promised an exciting end to a phenomenal show. The competition was tight with riders’ times coming in less than seconds apart. Ruby managed to clinch the title with a breath-taking round and a time of 38.29 seconds.

Achieving the double clear in such an impressive time put ruby and her partner in good stead for the rest of the jump off. Both Natalie Bell with Princess B and Rebecca Mason with Miserden Imprezza completed the course in times that rivalled Ruby’s, but unfortunately conceded faults in their attempt. The struggle of the other riders to reach Ruby’s time is a testament to her abilities as an established rider.

Ruby is no stranger to the competitive ring or more specifically to this class. With a seemingly endless list of successes with Dutsy Van Het Hek, it’s not a surprise that she was so calm and collected during the jump off. Ruby’s experience propelled her ahead of other competitors, with nerves of steel and a clear love of the ring, her elation at the win was contagious.

Ruby was extremely excited with the win when she entered the collecting ring after her triumphant lap of honour. She said: “it feels amazing, she jumped mega”. Ruby said her strategy was to “keep tight and keep on kicking”.

This combination has a very strong partnership which they have built up over 4 years. Ruby’s pride in her horse was touching and the bond between this horse and rider makes them a clear force to be reckoned with.
