Keith Shore finishes 2nd in San Giovanni Grand Prix

Sunday 02 April 2017

The CSI 3* International at San Giovanni, Italy saw Cheshire based rider Keith Shore finish 2nd in the hotly contested 1.50m Grand Prix.

It was a field of just over forty riders that came forward with just nine combinations managing to jump clear in the first round.   The jump-off which consisted of the nine clears plus Edward Levy (FRA) who was the sole rider to finish on just 1 time penalty was equally challenging and it was only three riders that managed to return home on zero penalties, one of whom was Edward Levy who finished in eventual 3rd place.

Keith, who had opted to go for a steady clear rather than risk a fence down by pushing up on the pace delivered a foot-perfect round to return home on zero penalties in a time of 49.39 seconds.  Finishing on zero penalties overall they relegated Edward into 3rd place with his 1 penalty finish score.  However their time just wasn’t enough to secure the title which went to Simone Blum (GER) with DSP Alice who delivered the second double clear of the competition in an incredibly fast time of 42.89 seconds.

Fellow British rider Dan Neilson from Essex also qualified for the jump off with his clear in the first round on Newtown Nickel.  A fence down in the jump off saw them pick up 4 penalties in a time of 47.02 seconds to finish in 9th place.
