JUBILANT JESS HEWITT IN UNSTOPPABLE FORM AT THE EQUESTRIAN.COM LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW

Jess Hewitt lit up day two at the Equestrian.com Liverpool International Horse Show with a brilliant victory double.

The Yorkshire rider followed up her win in the amateur B speed class, sponsored by Your Horse, to land the amateur A final on 19-year-old chestnut gelding Rusty.

Ireland's Aisling Byrne looked firmly on course to retain the title she won 12 months ago in the Irish Horse Gateway-sponsored class by making light of a number one draw to clock 27.16 seconds aboard Celeste Spb Z.

Jess, though, had other ideas, taking just over two seconds off the leader's time and thrilling a bumper Sunday afternoon crowd at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Third place went to York University student Kerstin Deakin, who backed up a stylish victory on Saturday with Sunsolde by posting an impressive display.

"He is an amazing horse," Jess said. "He can turn, take strides out and is so careful. He can do everything.

"It was about going as quickly as I could. I know he is really quick.

"Aisling went five strides to the last, and I knew I could take a stride out there. He is an amazing horse - he does well at pretty much every show I take him to.

"He loves it - sometimes a bit too much! - but he has got everything you would want in a horse.

"This is a great to start 2017, and I hope it carries on."
