Jemma Hartley Takes Victory in SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Aintree Equestrian Centre

Merseyside based Jemma Hartley fought off eighty-eight other competitors on Sunday to take victory in the hotly contested SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool.
With all of the competitors focused on securing one of the two qualifying tickets up for grabs for the Championship, the thirty-one strong jump off gave spectators a treat. Seven double clears were achieved in total and this put these competitors in contention for the Championship which takes place at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in July.
Jemma, who is based in Prenton, Merseyside, delivered the fastest of the double clears on board her own 6 year-old chestnut gelding, Exception. Having seen five double clears produced before her, Jemma knew that only a fast and accurate round would do and her gelding duly delivered, posting a second clear round in just 32.33 seconds.
Christopher Smith from Hyde, Cheshire secured the second qualification spot on Lesley Mcroberts' 6 year-old dark brown gelding Contento. This combination clocked up their double clear in 34.08 seconds.
