Jay Halim lands the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier at Hertfordshire County Show
Friday 31 May 2019
Hertfordshire County Show played host to another of the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifiers on Saturday 25th May and it was Jay Halim from Burford, Oxfordshire who took home the honours.
Course designer Peter Gillespie set a challenging test from the outset when only three of the forty-one initial starting combinations managed to produce a double clear. The three qualifying tickets for the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show in October were subsequently awarded to those deserving double clears.
Jay Halim steered Duncan Arthurs’ Aragon Z, an 8 year-old Belgian bred gelding into the top spot when crossing the finish line in 37.10 seconds. This saw him finish 0.36 of a second quicker than second placed David Mcpherson with his own 8 year-old Marvin Van De Waterhoeve another Belgian bred horse; they posted a time of 37.46 seconds. Alison Barton produced the third double clear aboard Gaye Hartley’s Billy Rembrandt, another 8 year-old bred in the UK by the Billy Stud; they stopped the clock in 39.03 seconds.
