It’s two for Teagan as Shaunie wins for second year running at Hickstead

Dumfermline-based teenager Shaunie Greig has been systematically climbing the rankings of British Showjumping, taking wins at prestigious venues such as the Horse of the Year Show.

Today, she added to her tally by taking the Oakley Coachbuilders Winter Grade JC Championship at Hickstead for the second year in a row riding Alison McDonald’s Teagan Arla Rose.

Returning to the All England Jumping Course as the reigning champion gave 16-year-old Greig a valuable confidence boost.

“I knew she would win it before she jumped,” says Greig. “It’s a course that suits her – it’s open, and galloping, and she’s good at all that. She jumped class.”

This will be Greig’s last year riding ponies, and as such, the last season she’ll spend with Arla, who she produced through the grades.

The Longines Royal International Horse Show takes place at Hickstead in West Sussex (23-28 July), with international showjumping being held alongside championship showing classes and national jumping competitions. The feature class of the show is the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of Great Britain on Friday 26 July, in which the British showjumping team will be competing for honours.
