Horse of the Year Show International Wild Card Qualifier Incorporating The British Showjumping Business Partnership International Stairway Final

Robert Murphy with Julie Andrews’ How Easy took the title in the British Showjumping Business Partnership International Stairway Final, to become the British Showjumping National Champion and take the first HOYS Wild Card of the day.
“When I walked the course I thought it was going to be difficult, It was a long way round with 14 fences. I made it quite hard work as I ended up losing a stirrup half way round but he tried very hard and we made it work in the first round. I was last to go in the jump off but it gave me a clear plan of what to do. Next he’s jumping at Bolesworth and then he’ll have a bit of a break with one show in between now and HOYS!” Robert comments.
The Show Wildcard League Winner champion was Louise Saywell who also takes a HOYS Wildcard. “I obviously wanted to get the clear in to make sure we got the double clear. I knew there was a little bit left because I missed one turn but overall, I was happy. We’ve been busy, he’s been very successful. He won the 3* Grand Prix at Bolesworth and the 2* Grand Prix at Keysoe so he’s been very consistent!” Louise says. "This title was a big aim, to get the qualification for HOYS for the week so I’m pleased this has been ticked off now” Louise continues.
Suffolk based Timothy Davies took the title of the International Stairway League. “I felt like he was jumping really well, he’s qualified through the Stairway League so he’s been consistent all year, it was always my plan to do the Stairway League with him and get to HOYS again having been there last year. He’s still relatively young, having already jumped there last year and to go back again with that experience I’m hoping that he’ll be a bit more competitive this year.” Timothy added: “He’s a phenomenal horse and never really lets me down. He won the Foxhunter the year before last and he’s competed at HOYS for 4 years running now. Wherever I take him and whatever I do, he always pleases me."
The fourth Wildcard of the day went to the highest placed under 25 rider in the show league, which this year was Jake Ward, who will also be at Horse of the Year Show, at the NEC, in October.
