Horse of the Year Show International Wild Card qualifier - Incorporating the National Speed Horse Final

Day 5 of the British Showjumping National Championships 2018 saw the second leg of the Horse of the Year Show International Wild Card qualifier in Championship Arena one with the National Speed Horse Final. Once again the crowds watched in anticipation to see who would take the highly-coveted title. Not letting the pressure from her peers get to her, 20 year old Faye Adams riding Demograaf flew to victory, setting an unbeatable time of 67.17 seconds.  “I went in there to go as fast as I could and execute the turns I know I am capable of doing with my horse with the hope that I would still be able to jump clear. He [Demograaf] is a naturally fast horse, so I used his speed to my advantage. It is really great to win here at Stoneleigh; it was a nerve-racking wait watching the clock as all the other competitors took to the course – but it was the best outcome I could have hoped for.”

The pair have been on impressive form winning a 1.45m class in Fontainebleau in May - one of his first ever 1.45m classes. “We have been together for about a year. He has just been really impressive this season so I’m really proud of him.”

As we head into tomorrow, the third and final day of the HOYS International Wild Card Series, we will not only see the winner of the four Wild Cards on offer, but we will also see a new British Showjumping National Champion crowned for 2018.
