Francesca and Jackdaw seal the deal in the Pony Silver League 138cm Championship Final

The Pony Silver League 138cm & Under final took place today in the All Weather Arena 2, where
spectators looked on as the combinations fought for the title. The Ponies sped through the first round setting the pace for the jump off, with a total of nine clear rounds out of twenty-one competitors. Within the course itself, the riders were met with a quad combination as well as many challenging turns which pushed them to show their full potential.
The ponies needed to be on top form as every second counted and the track allowed for no mistakes. As the intensity increased, some pony-rider combinations were cracking under the pressure resulting in several faults. However Francesca Young and Jackdaw proved to be unbeatable as they flew into first position early in the jump off. Second place was home to Ella Derbyshire and Thelma’s gift in a swift time of 38.89.
Francesca travelled two hours from Newbury with her 11yr pony Jackdaw to compete at this years British Showjumping National Championships and Stoneleigh Horse Show. The duo have been a combination for the last year and when asked how she felt about her winning round she replied “It felt wonderful, he (Jackdaw) feels so smooth and easy to turn”. Francesca also added “I have never done a proper jump off before”, making this a memorable win for the pair. Francesca also competed in the National 128cm Championships earlier in the week placing third.
