In the penultimate round of the International Stairway Series 2022, it was Anthony Condon, from Whitchurch in Shropshire, who secured the win on Vincomte, Patricia Hales’ 12 year-old bay gelding, at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Course designer Jason Lee Abbs set a challenging first round track for the 24 starting combinations, as faults came all throughout the course. Seven combinations made it through to the jump off and it was Anthony Condon who piloted Vincomte around the course clear in the quickest time, to cross the finish line in 46.41 seconds to take top spot. John Whitaker jumped clear into second place aboard Sultan Saud’s Sharid in a time of 47.86 seconds. James Wilson took third place with Heather Larson‘s Imagine De Muze, hot on the heels of John Whitaker in a time of 48.02.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows where winning combinations accrue League Points that count towards the Final which takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park. The series culminates with a high-profile championship where three Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are allocated as well as it being where the sports National Champion is crowned.
The International Stairway, supported by the British Showjumping Partnership with funding from sponsors including Charles Owen, KBIS Insurance, NAF and Zebra Products.
