Emma-Jo Slater claims an exciting win in the National Grade C Champion Final
Saturday 13 August 2016

Emma-Jo Slater set the bar high in the National Grade C Championship Final as she was first in the ring achieving the first clear of the class, riding seven year old gelding Kimba Flamenco owned by Kim Barzilay. Onto the jump off and Emma set the time at 36.43 seconds with zero jumping penalties which proved impossible to beat, fighting off hot competition from Abigail Walters riding Master Milligan 11 who finished in second place.
Emma has been riding for Kim Barzilay, owner of Kimba Farm Stud, for 28 years having started out helping on Kim’s yard when Emma was only 10 years old. “I bred Codi [Kimba Flamenco] and Emma backed him and produced him for me. He is a very sensible seven year old and takes everything at his own pace. He’s quite a gentleman; you could put a small child on him and he would look after them or you can take him to a show and he’ll jump his heart out. He just aims to please. Emma-Jo and he have qualified for the Foxhunter and the seven year old Championship at HOYS so that is a fantastic achievement for them both, we all can’t wait. He is by Je T'aime Flamenco and out mare by Hearbreaker.”
