Emily Notman storms to the top in the AGA Pony Bronze League 138cm Final
Wednesday 12 August 2015
The AGA Pony Bronze League 138cm Final was hotly contested this afternoon in the Grand Ring. Making up one third of a new pony National Championship, introduced by British Showjumping this year, was one of the highlights in the Grand Ring so far at the British Showjumping National Championships and Stoneleigh Horse Show.
There were twenty-six pony and rider combinations that took their turn to tackle the testing course designed by Matthew Hoskins.
Holly Rowsell from Pontypridd, Mid Glamorgan riding her mother Sandra’s 11 year-old grey mare Itzy Bitzy III, was the first to jump clear and progress to the jump off. Holly held the lead after a superb round, but was pipped at the post by Emily Notman from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire riding Take a Chance II a 14 year-old bay gelding owned by her mother Sarah. Emily flew around the course delivering a time of 35.43 seconds.
Emily took home 1st and also collected 3rd place with her mother Sarah’s 14 year-old roan gelding Bailey XII, she was delighted with her performance: “It’s very overwhelming because I didn’t even think I would get a place, I’m very happy”.
Emily proudly showed off her speedy pony in her lap of honour after the awards ceremony. The clear enthusiasm and talent expressed throughout the class promises an exciting future for these combinations.
Spectators enjoyed watching the pint sized performers strut their stuff in the Grand Ring. Riders were presented with six prizes and ten rosettes in the awards ceremony, the majority of competitors were recognised for their exceptional performances.
