Ellen Whitaker 2nd in Vilamoura Grand Prix

Sunday 24 February 2019

A solid performance by Ellen Whitaker in the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour CSI 3* Grand Prix saw her finish 2nd in a field of almost forty starters.

Riding Jack Van’T Kattenheye, a 10 year old gelding owned by MK Sportpferde/Max Kuhner, Ellen was just one of five that posted a first round clear.  Joining her in the group of five was fellow British rider Chloe Aston with the 14 year-old Amigo T.

For Chloe it was a 8 penalty finish which saw her take 5th place, whilst Ellen finished on a zero penalty score alongside the remaining four riders which saw time decide the final placings.   It was a win for Guillaume Foutrier (FRA) who stopped the clock in 34.96 seconds to take the lead with Fairness Hero Z, whilst Ellen sat hot on his heels to take 2nd place with her time of 36.96 seconds.

Olivier Guillon and Mathieu Billot, both French riders, took 3rd and 4th place respectively with both of them jumping clear but not able to break the 38 second barrier.

The tour continues this week at Vilamoura in Portugal.   For further information and full results visit www.vilamouraequestriancentre.com
