Wednesday 14 September 2016

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds held at SouthView Equestrian Centre in Cheshire drew a huge number of competitors, with 118 combinations coming forward to compete across the 0.95m and 1.05m Second Rounds.

With qualification for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 16th – 20th November, at the forefront of everyone’s minds, two fierce classes of competition ensued.

Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round

It was Karl Beilensohn from Ormskirk, Lancashire who scooped up the top spot on board his own 15 year-old bay gelding, Glucksrubin. This partnership fought hard, battling against a starting field of seventy-four competitors for a place in the jump off, where they joined forty-four rivals to decide the final placings. With his late draw working to his advantage, Karl crossed the finish line in just 32.87 seconds, a lightning fast time which the remaining competitors just could not catch.

Second place went to Rebecca Ellis from Hook, Hampshire and she eased her 12 year-old skewbald gelding Custer II across the finish line with a double clear in 34.28 seconds.

Laura Leigh from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands took third place on her own 20 year-old grey mare Swansong II. This pair produced their double clear in 34.64 seconds.
