Twelve combinations came forward to contest the Dodson and Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Second Round that was held on Sunday 12th October at Muirmill Equestrian Centre in Kimarnock, Ayrshire.

Each starter was aiming to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

From all of the starting combinations, six produced the first round clear required for a place in the jump off and three went onto produce a double clear.

The win in this second round was taken by 20 year-old Kirstie Boyd from Kilbirnie, Ayrshire with her own 8 year-old bay mare Elle Clover. The combination was drawn second to go in the jump off and their accuracy and pace was such that their double clear in 330.26 seconds could not be beaten.

Ailsa Hamilton, aged 14, from Edinburgh took second place on her mother Maria’s 17 year-old mare Palmontegraaf. This combination secured their double clear in 31.80 seconds.

Third place was taken by 18 year-old Megan Sheret from Dunfermline, Fife and she was on board Stephen Sheret’s 11 year-old chestnut mare Goldata. They produced their foot perfect double clear in 35.20 seconds.
