Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round at Duckhurst Farm

The Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Rounds continued last weekend at Duckhurst Farm in Staplehurst, Kent. The second round was held on Sunday 28th September 2014 and it was contested by sixteen starters, all of whom were hoping to claim one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.
The jump off saw ten combinations make it through and seven double clears were produced, the fastest of which came from 17 year-old Toni Evans from Southend-On-Sea, Essex, who was on board Caramel Twist, a 17 year-old dun mare owned by Kerry Evans. The combination’s double clear in 30.41 seconds saw them take a convincing victory alongside a spot in the Championship Final.
Second place was taken by 15 year-old Lily Dugard from Brighton, East Sussex with Liscanor Lady, a 12 year-old grey mare owned by Kerry Evans. They also produced a double clear, securing it in 34.31 seconds.
Third place went to 58 year-old Dinah Smith from Etchingham, East Sussex on her own 7 year-old dun gelding Culmore JJ. Their double clear in 37.78 seconds ensured the combination of a top three placing alongside a spot in the Championship Final.
Seven further combinations also went on to achieve their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Championship Final.
