Friday 30 September 2016

Following an appeal from the Disciplinary Panel to the British Equestrian Federation and Appeal Hearing, Rosanne Hegarty from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire has been fined a sum of £400 and suspended from all rights and privileges of membership of British Showjumping for two (2) years.

Miss Hegarty had used excessive and inappropriate use of her heels and spurs to the side of the horse ‘Calcourt Chaotic’ competing at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre on 1st September 2015, thereby contravening Rules 82.1, 82.3, 82.4, 82.5 and 82.11 of the British Showjumping Members Handbook.

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping stated "As a national governing body for the sport we have a strict code of conduct that we expect our members to adhere to, particularly in relation to the welfare of the horse which is paramount.  Behaviour such as this will not be tolerated in any form and it would be totally unacceptable for any member to think otherwise".
