DaintyDavey is the 2016 Retraining of Racehorses Club League Champion

“A dream come true!” is how Rachel Dorrell described her win as her 11 year old bay gelding, DaintyDavey was crowned the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) Club League Champion 2016 after also winning the 70cm Horse National Club Championship the day before.

“He is my absolute horse of a lifetime and he has jumped his socks off this weekend!” continued Rachel. Despite it taking Rachel over four hours to get to the show from Surrey due to traffic problems on the renowned M25, her two accolades made the trip well worthwhile. “It is my first time at this venue and so far so good. Everyone is super friendly and the arenas are lovely.”

“I bought Dave from Ireland in 2013 for myself to ride in my first point to point. He raced successfully in both Ireland and in the UK until I retired him aged nine. Now aged 11, we have been having a go at numerous disciplines with jumping being our favourite. We hunt with the RMA and Sandhurst Drag Hunt, have completed a couple of team chases and also some horse trials. We represent Bookham Riding Club in Surrey and came second in the RoR section of the unaffiliated horse trials at Munstead earlier this year.

“Dave is my absolute dream horse and a total pleasure to ride. He tries his heart out and is incredibly trainable considering his time in racing. I love him so much - he is one in a million.”

The RoR Club League Championship takes place at the British Showjumping National Championships and it carries a prize fund of £1,000. The RoR Club League is made up of all the identified retrained racehorses which appear on the Regional Club Leagues which run between 1st July to 30th June each year. This RoR League is used to identify the top thirty horse/rider combinations whom will receive an invitation to compete in the Championship class with its first round height of 0.85m rising to 0.90m in the jump off.

Updated daily, the points will be accrued as follows across all four heights of Club class (0.70m, 0.80m, 0.90m and 1.00m): 1st = 12, 2nd = 10, 3rd = 8, 4th = 6, 5th = 4, 6th = 3 and Double Clear Points = 3.
