CHAMPIONSHIP DISQUALIFICATION FOR ROSEMARY TILLSON & BALLINTESKIN LAUGHTONS FLIGHT FOLLOWING POSITIVE DRUG TEST

Wednesday 24 January 2018

Rosemary Tillson from Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire has been disqualified from the 2017 British Showjumping National Amateur & Veteran Championships.

This disqualification will see her lose the Major Veteran Riders Champion title which she won with the 19 year-old roan gelding Ballinteskin Laughtons Flight.  This action is a result of Ballinteskin Laughtons Flight testing positively for the prohibited substances Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone from samples obtained at the event.

Rosemary Tillson accepted the administrative sanctions on the 11th January 2018.  As a result she will forfeit all prizes and prize money won at the event, incur a fine of £500 and costs of £750.

The title will now be awarded to Mark Thompson who took 2nd place on the day with Caddy Stroller and all subsequent placings will be now move up one place.

British Showjumping would like to stress that there is a zero tolerance for members who choose to compete ignoring the prohibited substances list.   Equine welfare is of paramount importance to the Association as is ensuring best chance of fair competition and the opportunity for Championship winners to enjoy their triumph on the day rather than respectively in this way.
